Unhappy Suprise You Don't Hope For...

Well I spent five hours in town with my family yesterday and I came home to find Singapore had a baby! Sad news was it was obvious the little youngster didn't make it. There were several other sacks but the one was the only occupied. Curious I cut out the baby to have a look. I knew it was deceased but you still have that hope that it would revive once out of the sack. Nope. The eyes were clouded. Once I inserted the blade and began scooping out the fluids a faint dead smell fumed. The insides were still incredibly moist and gooey, as were the other sacks. Singy must not have passed them not too long before I arrived back home. It was my first "dissection", if you will, and I'm pleased to report that I didn't cut or chop the baby. I'm still thrilled she'd gotten pregnant with Charlie, I just wish the results would've been more positive. I cleared out rest of the sacks and put Charlie back in with her. Good idea or too soon? Dumb question maybe but do female snakes need a while to recover from a birth or miscarry before mating like humans? I'm still new to the snake breeding. Sorry for the disappointing results. Not sure if you have to give time or not, but I personally would.

Personally, I'd give the girl more time, I'd at least get a feed or two into her before disturbing her environment. And I'd actually avoid breeding her until next year.

Also, to my eye the stillborn baby doesn't look like it's fully developed - just something with the shape.

Sorry to hear about the loss of the little one/s.

She won't be ready to breed until she has her fat stores up and has time to develop more ovum.

Unless she's able to double clutch(doesn't happen often) it will be next season as a rule.

Any chance she could still deliver any more?

I've been keeping an eye on her but haven't seen anything new in her tank. She seems to be doing fine and back to her chipper, goofy self. I'll remove Charlie to give her time.
