    Speakers and snakes

Just curious if anyone has speakers near or around their snake too? We don't play music very loudly, we play it very softly. But when certain songs play, she stops and perks her head up all the way.

This isn't her final setup, getting some mopani into her tank soon, and her favorite tree hide-out.

Snakes are almost or completely deaf, but they can feel the vibrations from the speakers which might stress them out.

I believe snakes use there hearing more then we realize. Having those speakers so close to the enclosures probably produce some interesting sounds for them to hear. It may stress them also. Just my opinion.
I've found garters to be creatures of habit. I think routine is good for them. Keeping the surprises to a minimum.
    Once again, just my opinion.

Well we were observing her observing us. She was moving about normally, flicking her toungue as usual. Just certain songs she whould stop and lift her head up, or dramatically turn and pause. And then she'd carry on. We don't play music every time we are in here, just when we are working on something.

My snakes aren't bothered by my speakers... I have my snake in my office, which includes an 11' in subwoofer.. So obviously I have to play music a little loud sometimes. My little snakies all go about their business when I do.

As long as the music is relatively calm, I think it might be a nice stimulus for the snakes. Just stay away from anything with heavy base. Earthquake! Earthquake!

Non of my snakes mind a little thump in the songs, George will come to the front of his tank n just stare at us, then goes back to his high spot. its not often, But none seem bothered by it.
Daffy used to 'beg' to come out, he'd rush to the doors then look through one, move over, go back n stop n stare, go to the other side n just keep looking at me like let me join the party!

Neil, I listen to heavy metal and death metal.. My snakes don't seem to mind that at all.

Well you have obviously trained them well! Ive never really exposed my animals to loud music. I simply made the assumption that it could be bothersome.

They've been here for a long time. From the day that I've had them, they've heard the music. I try not to have it too loud since I understand it could hurt their ears. I have it up a bit louder than normal when I'm learning a choreography, mainly because I need to hear all of the little accents in the music to use them as a cue.
