HELP!!! Garter hit by car w/ rectal prolapse!

I was out herping at my friend's and we came across this garter who was hit by a car. (or was harmed somehow)
Her bottom half is very swollen from trauma, but the worst of her injuries is a slight rectal prolapse. I cleaned the dirt off of it with some tissue; she's in a plastic shoebox with wet paper towel beneath her and I just put her over a heat pad. Her head is shaking a little bit occasionally. Pictures soon.
I need advice on helping her in general. Thanks!

You should rub some cooking oil onto the prolapse ... it helps to keep it moist ... fingers crossed this'll help until you can get to a vet.

I put some preparation-H on it. (As per the advice of an older prolapse thread on here.)
I've got some pictures of her and the vent before she got a little comfortable. (It was all tight and swollen and now it looks a lot more "relaxed.")

YIKES.... that snake has been through hell and back!!! It doesn't looks like a car hit, the affected area should be smashed flat if that were the case... the back end of the snake looks severely kinked and as for the prolapse.. man i don't know!!! It does not look good at all Kyle

You can also try putting sugar on the prolapse and very gently try to re-insert it if it will go? Or is it swollen and infected to the point that it won't go back in?

That's the thing; it doesn't look swollen or infected! The last time I checked on it (before the prep-h) it looked relaxed and light pink (not like dying tissue, but more like it was relaxed.) The snake itself is very vigorous; she kept trying to get away when I was holding her after I caught her.

Just whatever you do don't let that delicate tissue get dirty or dry out. I would clean it with a que tip with clean water and then keep her on very moist paper toweling. And if you can, try to gently push it back in. it doesn't appear to be sticking out as far as the snake I had with a prolapse.
