    Size

So I caught my third garter today... a fat, but SHORT Eastern. So here's my question... what dictates length and size. His/Her head is significantly bigger, as is the diameter of his/her body... yet he/she is considerably shorter then my other two...

    What does this mean?

I see no reason why they can't be kept together. There shouldn't be any problems but if she goes into labor and you see it you should separate her and/or remove babies as they are born and become active. minimizes the chances of them getting smooshed or injured by the other snakes. Keep newborns separate from adults simply because they are delicate.

    Re: Size

If it is a dekayi you should know that babies are really small and sometimes tough to get eating. Having access to tiny slugs is very helpful. Very small earthworms are also a big help.
    Best of luck
