    mating preferences?

as some of you may know, I've got 1.2 parietalis
the females are very different from each other, both in looks and personality. Whizzy is a magnificent beast with poppy reds and punchy markings; she's also sometimes a biter, and often just not "friendly"
Thing has more muted reds, warmer tones, dark yellow on the side of the throat; and she's a very pleasant snake - hangs out well with humans,
    or is it just humans?
it seems that little Slither either has a preference for Thing, or maybe Whizzy is unreceptive. I do see him get initially excited about Whizzy, but then he always ends up with Thing.

When you the only game in town, I guess you can be picky I wish I have your problem.
I'm sitting here with a bunch of beautiful females and no males. Kind of hard to start a breeding project with that.

Maybe just putting Slither and Whizzy together without Thing would give you some answers.

    Re: mating preferences?

I've always put them together for about a week before I put Thing in with them
this time I didn't bother, but you're giving me an idea
I know he's already latched on with Thing for sure; I hadn't put them into a really warm tank yet; there's no reason I couldn't switch him and Whizzy out with Sammy and leave them together for a good while
my human sentiments are snagging a little though, since he's constantly hanging out with Thing - seems harsh to yank him out of that sappy picture and toss him in with the beast

well - it's done; he's shacked up with the beast, with no other lady to distract him
    I'll keep you posted

    Re: mating preferences?

yesterday I was ready to give up and put her back with the ladies, but when I got her out of the enclosure, it became clear to me that she was getting ready to shed and that I must have missed that blue-eyed phase somehow, so I put her back in
this morning she had shed, and he seemed a little interested
