    that crazy wench

oh man - never a boring moment
Whizzy has been a bit more high strung recently, and now she's ended up getting hurt, because she catapulted herself out of the enclosure at feeding time
I'm not exactly sure how it happened but there is a mangled spot half-way between the end of her tail and the vent, and the spine is broken there as well; she may well end up loosing that segment of tail
I ought to have seen something like this coming, and I'm thankful it didn't end any worse than that; it bled profusely, I rinsed it with Nolvasan solution, put Nolvasan ointment on it, and placed her in isolation
in a couple of days she'll be able to rejoin her room mates, but from now on she'll dine separately

Sounds like she's in good hands.

I had to catch J twice last feeding ... and Suzy launched herself out of her tub once as well (she had pinky on the brain). Wishing Whizzy a speedy recovery .

I'm sure she'll be fine as long as I keep it clean and ointmented (anointed?) 'til it's healed a bit

My snakes do this at times, especially my male FL blue eastern! he LOVES to try and fling himself out that door

I wear a baseball glove and a helmet when I feed that group now.

    Re: that crazy wench

    well it's off now
sorry no photo - battery dead - maybe later
that tail just looked a bit too decayed for me to leave it alone any more
she nailed me a few times too, a couple of times real good
basically I dunked her tail into warm diluted nolvasan bath; after she whipped it around a few times and I saw there wasn't that much viable tissue keeping it on, I just did a quick grab and yank, dunked the stump into the bath for a rinse and let her go back in the tank. later I shall anoint her with gooey stuff, but I just wasn't up for struggling with that while she was wet and my hands bleeding all over
perhaps the prospect of getting bit will induce Mikhaila to help me later. what could be better than a bite one can show off for several days?
What a capital snake - now a full 3.5" shorter; no wonder she's pissed

    Re: that crazy wench

Whizzy went to the vet today, just because I had to go anyway, and because I had to be gone for a couple of days and made the judgement call that I've seen snakes from the wild with similar and worse injuries do fine and that she'd be okay if left alone, as long as everything was clean and treated beforehand
she had just shed the day before also, which I considered a good sign
and yes - everything is fine
her stump is healing really well
there is still an small open area and an area of discolouration near the wound I want to keep attending to, just because there isn't much tail left to amputate, should anything go wrong
