garter snake hunting on Mcnabs island

well I went to McNabs island situated in the Harbor of Halifac Nova Scotia, I was hoping to find the Melanistic phase of the Maritimes garter Snake -Thamnophis sirtalis pallidulus

I spent 5 hours searching the island and only foudn a couple of garters but sadly no Melanistics

my next trip is to georges island known to have numerous melanistic garters.

heres a few pics of Garters I found

The links work though, Michael. Sorry you didn't find what you were looking for, but you caught some nice looking Garters even so.

Great looking snakes, would love to see pics of melanistic T.s.pallidulus too. Worried that I'm not getting my Maritimes, having problems contacting my source.....was supposed to be contacting me in June and now it's July and nothing.

Roy, well if you dont mind wild caught I have no problem sending you some.
I could catch a few fior you and my next trip to maine send them to you that way, like using fed ex or something.

    you pay for shipping cost.

I could legally ship them to you as well and get export documents and everything but that might take a little time and cost money.

But I have no problem sending you some on my next trip to maine if you pay the shipping cost.

Hmmmmm....I might have to give that some thought! I'd prefer captive bred snakes...hate the thought of taking them out of the wild, but I guess all captives are started that way anyways. When do you expect to be going out next? Oh and not to be picky, but I'm really looking for the really green Maritimes that have the redspots on them with the yellow chins. Not too picky am I? Melanistics would be right there at the top too, but I'm thinking they're protected on the islands where they're found. Hmmmmm really gotta think about this...but thank you for the offer very much.
