    Cloaca/vent Photos

I know it's a strange request but photos of the cloaca/vent area may be helpful when trying to identify possible health issues.
So lets get those cameras flashing and upload some photos.
High quality, focused photos only please.
I think photos of a normal cloaca would also be a good reference so don't hesitate to post those also.
I brief discription of the species and sex of the snake photographed would be good information.
Please keep the discussion in this thread to subject at hand.

Shannon, try to get some macro pics of Miss Piggy's cloaca. I never got around to it. She's always had some kind of minor scaring on the anal plate and you have to keep an eye on that area because sometimes (especially during brumation) she gets encrusted with urates that require a good soaking to clear. Nothing too serious, just something to check every now and then.

Thanks for bringing attention to this Steve. It's not something most keepers think about too often, but it's important. Can't hurt to palpitate your snakes every now and then, and concentrate on the area close to the cloaca. You shouldn't be able to feel any hard bumps or lumps, or whatever near there, inside or out.

Here's Honda(female t.radix) after her bout with a compaction. This was a day after I did some clean-up.
She had a lot of dried feces, some is still visible.
She has also strained the corners of her cloaca but wasn't in the mood for many photos.

Pretty much looks like the problem Miss Piggy has. There's some scaring there, maybe from past "encrustment" and for some reason this encourages urates to build up in the area occasionally. So, I had to check her fairly often to make sure it wasn't happening again.
