    Question Data collection

    OK, I have asked one of our knowledgeable monitors and he sadly had no information.
    So to you all I ask;
    Do you have … know where I can get … or are working on … some sort of data collection on your herps?
    I’m looking for some sort of direction as to what would be need to track my snakes. Some ideas I have are;
    1. Taxonomy - snake, lizard, etc.
    2. Picture ...
    3. Genus - Thamnophis
    4. Species epithet – sirtalis
    5. Subspecies - T. s. tetrataenia
    6. Common Name or Synonym - San Francisco Garter
    7. Sex – if known
    8. Date acquired – 2008
    9. Location or territory
    10. Reference – information
    11. Notes -
    12. Health –
    13. Feeding cycle –
    14. Food type –
    15. Temperament –

    Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. If this works I would even be willing to share

    TY

    It sounds as though you already have some pretty good working ideas there, Michael. I keep similar notes/records on index cards.
    I'm not quite clear though, what exactly is your question?

    That looks like a good list. Weight and length, shed date, meds,vet. dates, illness dates. just off the top of my head. Since there's no hair up there. I use an excel spead sheet and paste a photo in. I've also made one on MS Publisher.

    There is a data storage system aimed at reptile enthusiasts, I can't find the link but try Googling "degei husbandry".

    Thanks thats where I've been and boy is that a program. There is a b^%$ load of information there, wow. I seen it as to much infromation, a few bad keys in it.

    I think I'll try the index cards. Or something. Thanks for the information.
