Building sliding door tracks

Does anyone have any advice on the title subject? I would prefer to spend 0$ on tracks, as it seems easy enough to do with the right tools and some wood. I have acquired two 32"x20" sheets of 1/8" plexiglass, and I need to cover a 31 5/8"x38 1/4" space. I was thinking of just glueing three strips of wood in place on the the top and bottom, one inbetween the two panes, and one behind and infront of either one. Anyone else have any ideas?

The closed glass gap is important the keep as small as possible.

we use pvc runners..
90cm for (3ft vivs) VIVARIUM GLASS TRACK PVC RUNNERS 4mm top + bottom WHITE | eBay
this type of stuff, usually fairly cheap!
But steve is right, if you are making your own minimize that gap!

I was thinking of planing the wood that divides the glass down to an 1/8".

Babies will escape that. You could find a strip of felt and close that gap up but yet allow the glass to slide.
Just an idea.

I definitely don't plan on keeping babies in the enclosure, but there is always the possibility of surprises. However I suspect that if the female I am to keep in there were gravid, I would keep her in a smaller enclosure where she could be monitored more. I saw in an old post that someone had used an adhesive strip of brush (the kind to insulate the bottom/top of a door) attached to the glass closest to the back of the enclosure, sealing the gap. I may us this idea, but I'm not so worried right now. I'm using this enclosure for the trio of pugets I caught a week or so ago, I was going to let them go but they are such sweethearts. I've got them together at the moment in a tub that is 80x40x17 cm. When the enclosure is finished I will put the female in the large one and keep one male in the tub they are in now. The other male I will move to another tub of a similar size until their quarantine is complete.
