    Prison Break!

Hey, so our baby classic corn snake got out of her tank a couple days ago. We found her about 24 hours later curled up in a shoe in the bottom of a hamper full of stuff that was going to the D.I. Six months ago, my wandering garter escaped, and was discovered in the door jtrying to make his way to the outside world (maybe that's why he's a "wandering" garter lol ha ha yeah). Amazingly, he wasn't crushed when I opened the door..

So, I'm wondering, have any of you had escapees? And what are some of the random places you found them?

    Re: Prison Break!

Three of my garters have had tendencies to escape.

Green Girl and Blackie both had a habit of bolting out of the enclosure whenever the lid was opened. And, of course, it was always a hassle trying to chase them down and get them back in. They were both wild caught, so due to multiple escape attempts on their part, as well as a high level of hostility, both of them were released into the wild.

Scarlett has escaped three times so far, and all three of them were because she bolted for the top of the enclosure when I had the lid off. And, of course, it would be a hassle trying to chase her around the snake room, and she would get extremely hostile when I caught her again. Poor girl was traumatized on all three occasions. I've decided to see if my two-week vacation will calm her down some, but if not, I think she'll be going out to the woods with all her cousins.
People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey stuff.

    Escape#1:
Cotton-She got out during the night she somehow found the only weak spot in her old enclosure. We found her in a flower pot next to the window.

    Escape#2:
Willow-She got out during the night because the lid was not replaced properly. We found her in our bedroom on the xbox 360 controller.

    Escape#3
Un-named baby: Baby got out because we underestimated it's climbing ability! We dug through a huge pile of stuff we were donating the next day. We found the baby on the enclosure counter laughing at us an hour and half later.

My snakes know that the glue leads to the top, and the top leads to that nice warm stereo.

My only escapee was a tragedy. Noodle, my ribbon snake escaped when the lid weights were not placed back on properly. He was also found in a shoe (my husband's work boot) though not until after a few days of wearing it.

Well I kinda have a story. It just happen not even 10 minutes ago and lasted about 20mins. Well I look in Pheobes tank and open the lid and saw nothing and there was no reaction from her at all. I couldnt figure out how she got out. I was stumped but what did I do ....I got down on the floor and looked under the couch and behind my desk and behind everything in the living room and I was getting ready to look in the kitchen. But I thought that for some reason I was missing something in the tank. I dont know what made me look again but I did and then I remembered that someone in another thread was talking about that there snake likes to tunnel in the Coco-Fiber. I forgot all about that earlier and nothing looked like it was desturb at all so I didnt think about that . Well I knew that Pheobe liked to dig . I lifted up her new caprisun box I just replaced today when I was cleaning her tank and what did I find? Pheobe laying under the box and dug a good size spot under it that I dont even know how she got down there cause like I said, Nothing looked to be disturbed. Whew. Thank goodness .Im glad that I found her. She actully wasnt missing. Now Maybe she was testing me....lol Maybe thats where Pozer(one of her babies I am keeping) gets his goofyness. His mom is a joker and so Pozer has her sense of humor. lol. I know it wasnt a real exscape but man did it feel like it. That is why I think that they are smart and sneaky. Thank you for listening to my story and I hoped that you enjoyed it.
I wanted to Thank you Steve for your help with the heating pad.
