housing new borns

How many neonates should I keep together? I'll be using 6 cup dispose. containers. and how long should / can i house them together before they need there own space?

How big are the cups that you'll be using? Personally, I don't think I'd put more then 3-4 together, just so I'd be able to keep track of individuals and make sure they're doing ok. Too many might be hard to keep track of.

The cups I'll be using are the glad brand type that are approx. 4" deep by 4" by 6".

I have no idea what these "cups" you are referring to are! But I usually keep neonates in groups of three, for the reasons suggested by Roy.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they are disposable containers with a volume of 6 cups. 1 cup = 2-2.5dl Which would make them about 1.2 - 1.5 liters each. Or about 1.5 if the measurements are accurate.

The cups you refer to are a little too small even for newborns. Your snakes are probably 6 to 7 inches long and the container only 6 inches. I personally prefer the "shoe box" size containers (12 inches long x 6 inched wide x 4 inches high). These are reasonably cheap $1 to 2 USD, with locking lids. As they grow you'll eventually need to move them to someting larger. I keep 3 or 4 per container.

Yeh, I'd have to agree with Sid. Sounds like those cups would be ok, if you were just using them to take them to a show and sell or something, but I don't think I'd try and raise them in them. The "shoeboxes" work really well and that's also what I use.

I house my baby garters in groups of 5-7 in those "faunariums" on my snake rack, I wish I could house them all singly it would make my life much easier as far as feeding goes

I have mine (14) in a glass terrarium of 25 x 25 x 25 cm.
Works well.
This are captive bred easterns of about 15 - 20 cm.

I have few terrariums ready for newborns. Two 22 liter terrariums (one "faunarium", one homemade glass), one 40 liter glass ex-aquarium and one 50 liter clear Rubbermaid.
