    Not eating

It has now been two weeks since my 3yr old adult has eaten... and it was a small meal too. VERY unlike him. He refuses to eat, not even his fish, which he loves and never turns down..

Is this normal? HE IS NOT getting ready to shed.. he just shed.

    Could just be off food.
2 week isn't a long time in most situations.

    Re: Not eating

It's a long time for him (it's almost been 3 now) it's so unlike him to just NOT EAT. There's always been a reason... shedding, brumation etc.. i don't think he's ever just not ate before..

    Re: Not eating

You could try offering him something different but like Steve said 3 weeks isn't a big deal. My 7 year old snake went almost 7 weeks with out eating. I thought maybe she was done for but she started up again and is fine. What temp is he at. Some won't eat if there to hot. It can be to stressful

He's at room temp cool side, 82-84 in on part of the cage (heat lamp)

Not too worried about it of it's normal

    Re: Not eating

My snakes never fail to go off food for over a month at very least once a year. Snakey went almost 2 months without food, he just randomly started back up when I offered food to him again.

    Re: Not eating

Hasn't been long enough to even be an issue. It would be like worrying about a person who hasn't eaten in 4.5 hours instead of the usual 4.

    Re: Not eating

Yeah, I guess I'm worried over nothing.. I wasn't worried because he hadn't eaten in 3 weeks, I was worried because he's never done anything like this. it's just not like him. But if its perfectly normal...

    Re: Not eating

I can tell you that even though "it isn't like them" to do that, every single one of my snakes has done this at some point. As long as they aren't wasting away or lethargic, and are acting normal, (alert, tongue flicking) then it's nothing to worry about. They've been eating well all along, and so they have reserves.
