    Shipping Anxiety

Today has been quite a day. I must share the experience.
Last night I received a tracking number from Tminc for some snakes I was to receive by 10:30am the next day.
Checking the tracking number in the morning showed it was out for delivery.
10:30am came and went so I check the status of the package. On-line status said an address correction was needed. I contacted Timic and this correction was made.
I then contacted the shipper and was told the package would stay on the truck until the end of the driver's shift. Then it would be returned to the delivery hub for another delivery attempt the next day. The temp. here was to reach into the 90's. We all know what that would mean if these snakes had to stay on the truck all day.
I made another call to the customer service and made a plea to meet the driver somewhere. After another hour I got a call back and went to meet the driver who was only a few blocks away.
He pulled up(not happy that his route had been disturbed).
He handed me the pad to sign and then handed me the package. I turned and headed to me vehicle.
Then the craziest thing happened. The driver said "give me back that package, you can't have it" I handed him the package and asked what was going on.
He told me the package had to be returned to the hub for a delivery tomorrow. He said it was an electronic thing and there was nothing he could do about it. I told him I didn't understand since I had already signed for the package and had taken possession of it.
Now the driver is even more mad. He asked for a cell phone, which I hadn't brought with me. He then went into a business to use a phone, grumbling about how late he was as he walked.
He returned, handed me the package and sped off. I yelled, "Have a nice day" as he drove away.
    What an ordeal.
Snakes are safe and sound here on the Ranch.
    End of story.

He said "give it back". Did you think you had gotten the wrong box? Boy I sure as heck wouldn't have given it back! At that point you signed for it so he couldn't have claimed you "stole it".

Got a shipment this morning from Snakeman. Was waiting and saw the Fed-Ex truck buzz by at 50 mph down this isolated road. I KNEW he was supposed to be stopping here, I waited 2 minutes then started dialing the 800 # ready to rant "If he claims he stopped he didn't!!!!! Get that truck back here!" They have a hard time finding the house so I posted HUGE signs saying "Fed-Ex here" with arrows. Guess they drive too fast to read anything!

Just then the driver came back. Cute little red-sided baby arrived safe and sound.

whew! good thing you got them
it's so scary when that happens
I once had to get hysterically sobbing on the phone to get them to send the driver back when there was a door bell problem I hadn't been aware of

Glad you tracked your little guy down too! Yes that would be very stressful, watching the clock and the heat index.

I am guessing you didn't use Fed-Ex huh? They are more expensive but I know I can yell and complain and escalate the call if needed -- they will act like they care. Government workers are a whole other story.

Im just thankful that your new babies arrived safely, the lesson I learned was, always double if not triple check your addresses especially if someone else checks the package into the system. The I turned into a L in the address or vice-versa,and the garters were destined to be slowly cooked in that truck,Thanx for the great response, and alls well that ends well, although my blood pressure does not need the exercise. Thx again, and post some pic's soon as you get them settled in. T.M.Inc.

Close call. Nice save Steve! Dang, 90's already? That's just crazy. I've only seen a few days above 70. Upper 60's all this week. Supposed to stay very cool and somewhat damp until July. That's the long term outlook. 2 months of summer is all we're going to get and that probably means just 80's and very few 90's.

Man that was scary. I would have told him P--- O--. Once I signed for it I own it.
But it's good to have them safe now.

Glad to hear of a happy ending to this tale. I was beginning to worry.
