shipping woes

today I was supposed to ship babies to Steve, and I already feel like crying
I hate shipping snakes already,but some research shows that none of the carriers officially ship snakes any more. Fedex - no animals at all; UPS's list follows:

This is a comprehensive list of live animals accepted for transportation. Shippers are prohibited from shipping any animal not listed here, and all other live animals will not be accepted for transportation. The following live animals are accepted for transportation unless poisonous, venomous, and/or a Threatened or Endangered Species.

• Crustaceans (All): Examples: crabs, crawfish, lobsters, shrimp
• Fish (All)

are these regulations the reason shipyourreptiles.com was having some troubles? I heard something, not sure what. was there a snake escape or some such thing?
They do use UPS though, so I'll have to find out more, since that's the only other option I can think of at the moment

No fear. When I hit the lottery I'm going to hand deliver snakes to all who want them.
Of course, it might help if I start playing the lottery.

Same here, but I figure the chances of winning the lottery even once in your lifetime are about the same, whether or not you actually play.





It would still be interesting to hear how exactly they're rationalizing those limitations.

You can get certified by fed ex to ship reptiles with them

UPS allows people to ship lizards,turtles and tortoises but they do not allow shipments of snakes. (hence it is not illegal to do so, just against policy)

The only one where is is actually illegal to ship snakes is by Postal Service.

There are services that can allow you to ship snakes with UPS in compliance with their policy, such as reptile express which has an agreement with the UPS corporate office. Another company (ship your reptiles) once said they had a similar such agreement with UPS which turned out to basically be lie.

Just to clarify why the company I work with does not use Delta any longer.

The straw that broke the camels back is when one of their employees stuck a reptile shipment of ours in the freezer because it was marked " turtles perishable"

The non english speaking contract employee thought "oh perishable, I'll put it in the freezer" but there is a difference between live perishable and perishable.
No matter if his intentions were good or not, it's just an unacceptable misunderstanding
