    Blood screening

Does anyone know where I could find any information about baseline blood work done on Garter snakes. I'm curious if anything has been done. Wondering if this is an area that might help explain and possibly reduce some of the sudden deaths we see. I know that many of use have had what appears to be perfectly healthy snake die.
I had blood work done on my dog to give the Vet. a baseline to observe from. Seeing changes in things like liver function and other organ functions might help us in identifing up coming health issues.

They are not just snakes. They're garter snakes.

I'm going to look into it with my Vet. tomorrow.
I have a feeling it may requirer more blood than you can safely get from these small creatures.

perhaps a study at the local university would be of use :P LOL you have a good population to work with from what I understand. assuming they can safely get the blood.
