    think the babies will be out by now?

    anyone here think the wild baby garter snakes will be out by now?

    I still think it's a bit early. With the gestation of about 100 days, and the way the winter has been, and their brumation cycle, I would say late June or early July. Just my opinion.

    can't wait for that. If captive babies are exciting, then meeting newborn garters in the wild is 2x the rush. I saw some baby queen snakes the other day, but i think i read that they overwinter.

    really? i was thinking mid may to early june is when i usually find them..

    LOL! It depends ENTIRELY on where you live!

    Cessation of brumation, breeding activity, and birth of young, are all temperature and climate sensitive. Just as the spring flowers are out in Georgia two weeks earlier than they are in Ohio... (with even more difference between Florida and Canada)... so will the garters time their activities differently from south to north.
