    Shed Mounting

Has anyone any experience mounting a shed between glass?
    Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

I plan on cutting it down the belly and mounting it right-side out.

I've not tried, but would guess you need a fresh shed and you need to keep it stretched between the glass and backing until it has dried.
There's a couple of taxidermist on the forum aren't there?

They loose flexibility when they are dry, I would have thought it would work best with a shed some fresh that it's still moist and supple. Pressed between a couple of sheets of blotting paper to flatten and dry, then mounted between glass and backing. Same sort of method as used for pressing flowers.
You know you need to post a photo when you have finished this.

Glycerine can be used to soften and preserve dried leaves- you might want to experiment with it if just drying it proves too fragile.

I think I will contact the U.N.L. Museum of natural history and see if they have any advice. They must have some experience in doing this. At least I would think so.

I've got a friend building a frame then I'll have glass cut for it. I'll cut the shed where the belly scutes meet the lateral scales and lay it flat between 2 pieces of glass.

that's a pretty cool idea. my husband would probably like me to do that, more than drape them over the house plants, like i've been doing when i get a good one...LOL
