Any Idea what this might be?

I have seen this garter behind my house about 10 times now. And I have always noticed the "white" scales. This time I decided to catch it and take some photos and stick it back under a rock.

These scales look perfectly normal except white and start at its tail and go all way up to its head just randomly.

    the

    Thanks.

Oh. Because you know, it seems to me that, aside
from being a little mentally ill, she's pretty normal.

Wow.......it looks like it's actually a pigmentation issue. Can snakes have "birthmarks", so to speak??

That does look like a random lack of pigments.

And no it does not look like any injuries

However, This is the first time I have seen that.
