Hey guys, I was wondering, how do you guys heat your garters? Heat lamp, UTH, other? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

I have heat cable under one tank, ceramic heat bulb above another, and the tupperware with the new baby lives nearish the heat bulb.

The heat cable and carefresh seems to work really well - the paper is a good insulator so it's always cool on top and warm underneath. The only downside is that if they want to be warm I don't see them.

I use a Zilla heat pad with the hydrofarm thermostat.... And a 60w uva for surface heat on one end of the tank... The other side has a t8 uvb strip and stays pretty cool.

Hmmm. I really like the look of the flexwatt. I've been looking for something I can use on the back vertical of my enclosures, and it sounds like I could do a long run of this. That is certainly what it appears to be saying. Is this in fact true or have I once again heard what I want to hear?

Hmmm...I have never thought about using the heat tape...I may look into that as well. As of now, I use dome and hood lamps with 40-60 watt bulbs, and red and black 25-40 watt night bulbs. I also have Zoo Med and Zilla heat pads on a couple of my tanks for extra heat if needed. I have thermostats on a couple of my tanks...I need to get more. The best thermostat I have come across is: BAH-1000DC Reptile Thermostat New Model - Incredibly Reliable Digital Chip for Accurate Temperature Control I also use a infrared thermometer to check the heat in all of my enclosures: PE-2 Infrared Thermometer Laser Guided Pro Exotics*Temperature Temp Gun TempGun on eBay!

For my current enclosures that would be about 6 foot. well within what it sounds like they are saying can be done as one continuous strip....
but I frequently assume silly things that are only strongly implied but not said.

Flexwatt will do fine on a 6 foot run. I don't use the clip connectors to attach the wires. I solder them directly to the flexwatt. I don't trust the clips to make good contact.
Prices can really vary on flexwatt so be sure to shop around. Some places get $4-$6 a foot, I think that is way too much money.

Looks like 6 foot of 4 inch flexwatt on ebay is going for around $30 with free shipping.
