Head/eye injury

This little male was found right off my rear deck. Check out this head/eye injury. There appears to be damage to the supraocular and Preocular scales. I put the little guy in a shed box in the hopes of cleaning that eye up.
I think some of the eye problem is from retained eye caps caused by the damaged head scale. I hope to at least improve the vision in this eye, if possible. Luckily, his left eye is in perfect shape. This is a very calm/nice little male. No musking or crazy behaviour. This radix will be staying with us and not be released. It's tough enough out there with two eyes let alone one. I wonder how this injury occured.
I've got a turtle and snake(Spot) going to the Vet. tomorrow. I think I'll try to slide this little guy in, also.

Yeah, they can be pretty tough, but that has to be a significant disability, especially when it comes to detecting predators.

If you want tough, 10% of the tiger snakes on Carnac Island are completely blind and they do fine.

Now you've sparked my interest, Stefan. Why or how are 10% blind.
That seems like a high percentage of blindness in any population of seeing creatures.

they live off bird chicks they steal from a ground dwelling bird species and many get their eyes pecked out

Makes perfect sense. I didn't know if it was genetic or predators or some other environmental cause.
