My two Oregon red spotted garters are holding tails tonight! They are Sage and Basil and it appears we have had them mixed up until today. Hopefully we will get squiggles in the spring!

Mine do that anytime a female sheds or is about to shed. But there's a big difference between a "real" courting and just a routine post shed attraction. The former is much more vigorous and longer lasting. Now, when you say "holding tails" do you mean a lock up or just mild interest on the part of the male?
