second chance babies:D

so everyone wants a second chance right???? and last night i got mine....... after the sad passing of sooty's babies... i just wished i could go back in time... and a few of the members reminded me that i did have a second chance.... and so i decided to keep the gravid wc female and last night she delivered 22 beautiful babies....

it was really funny timing actually.... i had just come home from camp and there they were.... they must have been born only hours before my return!!!!! but what really surprized me was the mother..... she was and is still so thin that her skin was literally folded appon its' self.... but she ate none of them.... i was so amazed when i took her out so that i could collect the young... she was so weak.... she was almost limp in my hands..... i was surprized she was alive........ but she was the first to be fed.... then i had to kidnapp my friend from down the street (at 11:30) so that she could help me feed all of them.... and clean up the big mess.... she was happy to help because she loves them.... she wants to keep one so bad..... esp. after i told her that i wasn't goingto keep any...... but her mom who used to be a snake lover herself claims to have developed a fear of them..... i dont understand how that could have happened.... but apparently it did.....

so anyways.... she rushed over and helped me feed all 26 of them....... and amazingly out of the 22 babies 20 of them ate even though they must have been less than 4 hrs old at that time!!!!! and one of the 2 that did not eat bit on to the food but didn't understand how to swallow it.....

but they are all happy now including the adults who are happy to be back in their normal cage i will keep the mother until she fattens up a bit and the babies until i feel they are fattened up and eating well....

thanks guys.... and i will do my very best to get these guys ready to be released....

but until then they will def. not go outside!!!!!

and even better on the timing part i had just bought a 20 gal fish tank at a garage sale for $5 last weekend!!!!!

but i went down to the creek yesterday... and unf. there were no toads left that were small enough for the new borns.....

and worse yet what i did find was a huge (at least 3 X my size) dead dear in the middle of the creek!!!!!! and it's stuck there!!!! i have no idea how to remove it!!!!!

and to my complete disgust my parents told me to go down there and throw rocks at it until it falls apart and floats away!!!!
