    Smile Theif The Snake

Relaxing on our porch on a chair during a warm summer afternoon.

This is Theif, my Redsided Garter Snake. He was wild caught from my neighborhood by me in May. He is about 2.9 feet long, and his girth is about an inch.

He is blind in his right eye, and when I found him he had scale rot, cuts, and all sorts of wounds. He is looking much better now, and I hope he has a speedy recovery.

A nice photograph of him looking out of his good eye.

I have found him to be a very good eater. I feed him earthworms, cricket frogs, chorus frogs, and today I fed him a rat pup.

Because of him being blind, he is a bit nippy during feeding time. Otherwise, he is the tamest garter snake I have had.

I have beeb calling Theif a "he", but I don't know his gender exactly. I am suspect that "he" is a "she", but I hope someone more advanced can help me out

Thanks for reading my first post, I'm glad to be here!

Thank you! He was very relaxed yesterday, so calm that I finally got to measure him with string.

Even though we have a light and a heating pad in his tank, I like to let him sit on the porch so he can get natural sunlight.

"She" is small though for a girl, which made we think that "he" was a male.

I dunno, I'm confused, maybe "she" is just a young snake.

Thank you everyone for the nice comments, I guess Theif is offically a "she" now.

Right now she is in a twenty gallon tank, she seems to still be full from that rat pup

I would definitely say she's a girl. And a nice looking one, too!
