Went by the local pond to try and net a couple young Painted Turtles. They stayed just out of net range.
While I was in a heavily sheltered area of the pond waiting for a turtle to surface I happened to look along shore and saw a head come out of the water. I did my best statue imitation and when the head went back under the water I scooped.
I came up with a rather nice young Snapping Turtle. The turtle seems to be in good shape. I removed some leeches and will de-worm in a few days.
