Here's me holding "dad". He's so laid back. If he was even half as squirmy as my garters, there's no way you could handle him. Imagine if they had a nasty tempter like some gopher snakes. Good thing they don't.

Drymarchon are amazing animals. They remind me of garters in their behaviour & show as much "intelligence" and "serpentality" as any snakes out there.

I do love my big Pituophis too though:

When I lived in San Diego, gophers were among my favorite snakes, attitude and personality-wise. I had a tendency to not keep the tame ones. I liked the ones with a bit of a bad attitude.

Here's our little Tank-Snapping turtle(Chelydra serpentina). Last year came to us about the size of a silver dollar. This year she's about saucer size. She polished off 15 pinkies the other night. She's calm and docile. Begs for food when we walk out on the deck.

The last two are mine, the big lineaticollis is sort of half mine & lives here. I feed and care for it but a buddy bought it & a huge female for us to breed.

I'm a big pituophis freak. My male Cape Gopher is one of the most docile snakes I have, while the two females (one of which is the last pic, the other below) are the most ill-tempered beasts I have ever kept. There are no "bluff strikes" they're out for blood and they get it, everytime lol. It's funny how they're polar opposites but a good example of the potential either way for these. I love them they're a lot of fun and some of my all-time favourites, but not for the feint of heart or those easily intimidated by a snake not only yelling at them, but also trying to eat their face.
