Really? Take a look at your fingernails, your hair, your scalp and skin flakes. Same stuff. Same stuff your snake sheds off every so often, and yes, same stuff feathers are made of. It's just a long-chain protein called keratin.

And yes, humans need to, and must shed their skin too, in order to grow. It's just that we do it in tiny flakes instead of all at once.

I really dig working with raptors. Still so much to learn. May become a falconer's apprentice next year, but in the mean time- WOW. Good luck to him. I've always like lovebirds, but haven't taken that plunge yet.

Wait a minute. I used to breed and hand raise cockatiels. I could have sworn those babies in the picture were cockatiels.

I think the confusion came from this statement made by steve: "P.S. Kale also will be breeding Peach faced Love bird early in the fall."

He never said those were lovebirds. In fact, he never said anything about what kind of bird is pictured. They are definitely cockatiels. The grey one appears to be a normal female, the other (I don't know what that morph is called) a male.

Something like Lutino? SP? I'm not terribly up on the morphs either.

No, lutino is a completely white cockatiel with a bit of a lemon yellow "wash". I wanted to say it was a pied but it's not. I think the one pictured is a relatively new morph.

Sorry to butt in but my snake collection has expanded again. I was not supposed to bring home another snake when I went with a friend to a reptile show near me. I was just supposed to buy frozen mice. But this guy made me an offer I couldn't refuse and I came home with my first milk snake. I think I need a rack!

Anyway, here's "Viper" so named because I couldn't find a pic of his morph and hubby started making coral snake jokes. He's a central plains milk snake, very nice to handle with a voracious appetite for anything remotely rodent.
