Well, this is what happened: Two wandering garters and a San Francisco were being kept in the same enclosure. I sat in front of my computer a meter and a half away. I heard them thrashing around and I immediately realised that something's wrong. I turned around to see the SanFran racing around the enclosure with the smallest snake in the group, this wandering garter, in pursuit. Suddenly the wandering garter changes direction, cuts straight across the enclosure, intercepts the SanFran and grabs it behind the head. At this time I'm already unlocking the enclosure. The wandering garter starts working its jaws. I grabbed it by the neck and after a couple of seconds it let go of the SanFran. Long story short, the SanFran was shaken for maybe an hour and the offender ended up in solitary confinement.

No food had been in the enclosure for several weeks, as I feed them separately outside the enclosure. This also happened several days after the previous feeding, so nothing really suggests that this was a "feeding accident".

Snake fight. I bet the S.F. said something the Wandering didn't like. Maybe said something about her man. You know how those girls can be.

Great photos, Stefan. And thanks for sharing the info on the Wandering. I keep two Wandering's myself and they are housed together.... starting to think seriously about seperating mine.

    That was a close call!
How is your tetra doing, by the way? Haven't seen any pics of her lately, unless I missed some during my "busy month".

    She's actually doing fine.

Not a very recent picture, but I have a more recent video.

    YouTube - Thamnophis sirtalis tetrataenia
I got hit by a small vote bot attack a week ago, so the ratings on about a dozen of my videos dropped from 4½-5 stars to 1 within an hour and all comments were marked as spam. I don't feel like creating a hundred or so fake accounts to get them back to where they were, so rate if you can.

    Cool!
She's a darned good eater, Stefan!
The fish in that video looks huge in comparison; most of my Easterns would have run screaming from that thing!!

You'll be happy to hear that I might actually name her (the wandering garter, not the tetra) because of it.
