The Garden Plots at University of Michigan. About 1 square mile of pure snake territory: Browns, Garters, and Rough Greens.
You literally can't step with out finding an adult in June, and in July-August there's tons of babies running around. Then in September, the browns give birth, and under everything they're shooting out like worms. :P

I took the male back and let him go. I decided to stick to just Garters now. I will still go and catch native snakes, but I won't bring them home anymore, just have fun and take pictures!

Why? You want to come out to play?

K, so lately I've been ENTIRELY APPALLED at my snake's colour changes. Most of the snakes you've seen, save for the two largest which appear to be female and standard colored, have blossomed into INCREDIBLE specimens. We have no AA batteries left, but tomorrow I should be able to get up some pics of these BREATH TAKING SNAKES.
