Re: How about some pics of your other pets

I saw one at a pet store and we kept looking at each other, it was kind of cool. They might have as much personality as garters, just maybe.

I can really say it's a great pet. But you need to bring a lot of time with it when it's little and it's not something for little kids. During the mating season, especially males (luckily ours is a female) can be ver aggressive (ours is mildly irritated sometimes). During the rest of the year she just love's attention and food. She also love's to come to sleep next to you or on you (and preferably under a blanket, very warm). Something I've never seen in other pets: She trusts you completely. If she wants to get a stroke, she just let herself fall. She 'knows' you'll catch her and stroke her, of course this means sometimes she makes quite a fall...

I'll be visiting a certain pet store in about 8 hours and I might be coming home with some sort of ratsnake. Either a Baird's ratsnake or a red ratsnake (aka corn snake).

    It's 2:21AM and I can't sleep.

Bairds are nice snakes Stefan. Corns are a bit....well, Corns.

I always wanted to breed Bairds but never got around to it. Texas Rats are nice too, can you get them?

I doubt I could get my hands on a Texas ratsnake atm, but somebody will probably have babies for sale in a few months. I'd love to get my hands on an Emory's ratsnake or an eastern milksnake, but it's hopeless.

Corns might be a bit boring because they are so mundane, but I try to think of corns as just another species of ratsnake. If I'm lucky, I'll find a really nasty one, with tattoos and a drinking problem.

I'm kinda fed up with Rat Snakes now. I've had so many over the years. I know they're beautiful snakes in their own right, but compared to Garters I find them pretty dull. I'd still keep Everglades Rats again, if the chance arose, or Aesculapian Snakes (which I've never seen in the flesh), but the usual run of the mill species just don't "float my boat" anymore.

I'd love to get my hands on any Zamenis species, including the aesculapian snake. Never had a ratsnake of any kind, so I don't quite know how different they are compared to garters. I mean their behavior. Less active, right?

Yeah, they feed, they sleep, they dump, they feed again. No doubt a million Rat Snake fans will disagree with me. I've kept all sorts but it's Garters for me from now on.

See, I've only kept garters. I've caught Brown Snakes and those crankey water snakes, but Garters are the only kind I've brought home. I assumed all snakes had this much personality, but you guys seem to know otherwise.
