I didn't plan on bringing any snakes back from the show but this female Mexican Black King (Lampropeltis getula ni) is something I've been wanting for the last couple of years.

I hadn't planned on buy this Kenyan Sand Boa(Eryx colubrinus) but after helping her shed I fell in love with her and decided she to should live on the Ranch.

Oh, then you'd probably love to get your hands on an adult black milk snake from central america. Only $75 on craigslist in Clark Co. WA. It's been more than a week and the ad was posted again. I couldn't believe it. I'd love to have that snake myself but priorities rule that out.

Those are both awesome snakes Steve. Congrats on your new acquisitions.

It's always good to get more experience with other snakes. It helps to reaffirm our love for garters!

I do have a thing for kings and milks though. I have also kept small boas. Those two are great choices. Have fun!

Very nice, Steve... I've often thought of adding a mexican black king... I'm now stuck deciding if the corn has filled that void... nah I don't think it has <gg>

There are three Lampropeltis species I could consider: L. triangulum triangulum, L. calligaster and L. alterna. But to each his own.

Both started eating today. I'm glad to have that hurdle out of the way.

I would love to get my hands on a red phase L. triangulum triangulum pair.

When I first joined the forum there was a member that said those snakes overwinter in his walls and can be found all around the area. I said if he could get some for me, I would be very grateful and make a deal. Never got a response.

I could do triangulum, but I'd rather have zonata, even though they are similar. I grew up around zonata so there's that emotional connection that gets in the way <gg>

zonata are off limits! shame on you. Milks can be just as beautiful. Zonata can be found even in Washington State, about 40 miles east of my location in a state park. The rangers are very protective of them but are very willing to show you where and when you can photograph them. I had a good relationship with some of the rangers some years ago. We shared common attitudes toward the snakes and they took me to the best spots for viewing them. By far, the coolest snake in the state. Also the rarest.

When I lived in San Diego they were pretty common in the east mountains.

Anybody want Jewels? Shes up for adoption. She's almost 7 years old and 4 feet long. Pueblan Milk Snake. (Lampropeltis triangulum campelli)
