Not long, a couple of years. When it comes to snakes, I'm about as "green" as most beginners here.

Adders are quite common here, but I wasn't allowed to keep them for some reason.

I've kept a few reptiles and amphibians in the past, too. Hymenochirus, Cynops, Xenopus, Eumeces, Bombina, Anolis, Trachemys.. I suppose I've kept Rana as well, since I used to raise and release them in my youth.

Funny, If my search for Chinese and five-lined skinks hadn't failed a three years back, I wouldn't have gotten into garters.

    Re: Your next snake

I've had aquariums and aquaterrariums most of my life, but I finally got fed up with all the water and decided never to have anything aquatic ever again.

Well, I'm off to work now, but I'll be around.

Some of them can be considered semi-aquatic, but the elephant trunk snake is what I would call aquatic.
