Nice. He caught it in his yard!? I've always been looking for for snakes for 4 years and have never seen an albino anything! (Good looking snake.)

Yes, he lives in a small town.
He took care of him for a year then decided to sell. I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time.
I've got 4 ladies lined up for him this Spring. I hope he's up to the task.
All four were born and raised here on the Ranch.
They are very nice females. He's a lucky guy.

Amelanistic snakes are rare in the wild, because their carmouflage don´t work very well, and did you imagine all those peoble who´ve never seen a snake although the snakes might live in their yards?

I feld lucky when I saw a baby Natrix (too fast for a picture) last summer although I knew the place to be Natrix habitat and a friend, who lives nearby had several specimens on vacation in his pool.

Just like in the hobby, with some species such as this one (T. radix) amelanistic individuals are not so rare, even in the wild. This is isn't the only one caught in the wild, it isn't even the second or third one found in the past year or two. And then, there's probably ones found we didn't even hear about.

Udo does have a point though. I have been herping around Oregon for many years and not once have I found a ringneck snake in that state, even though I've been looking where they are apparently very common.

I do know of two more. Some fellow Deputies said they saw one when they served search warrant on a residence. They said the home owner said he caught it.
Last year I also heard about another one just across the river in Omaha.

you see? not so rare. Now, that albino Northwestern found this year is only the second one found in decades that I know of.
