That tank would work, but it would be a little small for long term.

you think that's too small for a single male? that's almost the same dimentions as a 20 long.

According to google, those measurements are just over 30" by 17" by 17".
Thats plenty big for any garter, in my opinion. Also far bigger than a 20 long. Picture a 29 gallon thats as wide as it is tall.
