I had to think about that one (rtfm) ...But I think I got it...
So....did it say it had to focus somewhere you didn't want it to?
Ah, never mind...go and play with your new toy!

Nope, found the button. It's going to take some time to get used to this camera.

I could also use my tripod right about now. But I don't have it here.

You could always use MF (Manual Focus).

But yes you can easily scroll through the focus points and select which one you want to use.

Best thing you can do is use "M". I learned so much about photography when I stopped letting the camera do all the thinking. You've got a camera now that is "better" than a point and shoot so you might as well figure out why it's better.

Yeah, tripods can come in handy. Not always, but defenitly under low light.

Sounds like you're having fun already Stefan. Please let us know how you like the camera and lense once you play with it for a while

Oh. Because you know, it seems to me that, aside
from being a little mentally ill, she's pretty normal.

Yeah, I can't wait to test it under better light conditions. I didn't manage to get a single sharp snake photo. Although, I wouldn't have gotten one with the old camera either.

I use an old Fuji FinePix S 3000 digital. Nothing impressive, but it works.

    re: Cameras and photography

congrats to your new camera, Stefan
it took me a while to figure out mine and there's still stuff look up now and then
I hardly ever use anything automatic on a camera - it's totally set to manual
I hate those whirring sounds, when the camera adjusts the focus and I hate the delay
sorry - I'm a control freak and can't stand automatic transmission in cars either
it all pisses me off because I can focus faster than the camera and I can shift faster than a car's digital pea brain and when I want something to happen, I want it now, not when they're good and ready
