Yesterday's Herping trip - garter pics included

Well I found a little garter on Thursday I took pics so they would be easy to see...LOL! It musked all over me when I picked it up I saw 3 others, but they were tooo fast to catch

This is an Eastern. We have the same coloration here in Michigan. In fact, 2 weeks ago was the first time I found a typical black/yellow eastern! This is the same color of the 4 I found Sunday.

ROTFL! Do you remember that time I jumped out of the car for the coachwhip? I may of looked like a fool running sideways like a crab, but I headed off the snake & would of got it if it didn't dive down that hole! Anyhow, by the time I see them, they are already going into the deep grass & bushes. I was still hurting from diving on the racer the day before so, I didn't do any diving on Thursday.

It is the larger Northern pacific rattlesnake that is coiled up in my first set of pics. About 30-36 inches long.
True, its not really hard to see, but you can also see how easily you could walk right by one like that. The gilberts skink was found the same way- just happened to spot it through the grass.
Always makes me wonder how many more I miss.
