In case anyone has any doubts about importing non-license animals into Alberta (where the radix garters are listed in the Alberta Wildlife Act), you'll see here on the Alberta SRD page that a permit is required for import. You could try to get an import license, but I have been told by F&W in the past that they only approve them for Zoo's & research facilities.
Even then the best case scenario is you would only be allowed to keep them as pets & not sell etc. Posting this mainly for the sake of informing others when the subject comes up again as it does from time to time. Official links are always nice to see vs some anonymous random boob named "Spankenstyne" blathering on

Marnie I laughed out loud.... for awhile. To funny. On a serious note, just got cuaght up on this thread and bummer about those regs in Alberta. Not the news you want to hear when you need a garter fix and the powers that be rain on your parade.

It is a bummer and I feel bad for having to be the bearer of bad news, but having gone through the same thing years ago I'd feel even worse for standing by not saying anything and having Michelle find out the hard way. At least it wasn't a case of the snakes already paid for and/or shipped.

I'm still going to be stubborn n try. I'll call fish n wildlife n see what gets said.

Oh and Charles hasn't gotten the shipping kit yet so it may be a little while longer on my flames.

That is ok I am patient.

I'm happy for all you garter geeks who've been waiting for so long and now you can finally make some of your dreams come true. How does it work in the reverse, can we get snakes imported from Canada?

For frick sakes. My fiance makes 10 bucks n hour more then me, but gets paid out about the same!!! Freakin taxes! Money has gotten a little tighter, life has gotten crazier, but I still want to do this shipment!!!

I noticed on Scott's site that he updated his available page and put a note for us Canadians about a larger shipment... What is everyone's thoughts on jumping in on a bigger one to save even more money?
