Re: Other pets (pics and discussions)

Seeing Tank and Abrams together brought back the memories of a simpler, smaller Tank. This Sunday will be Tank's 6th birthday. Sometimes I think Tank believes he's still a pocket turtle.

    Here's my wee little Noodle.

"Wee", even though he's like, almost three times the size (weight wise) of the garter. It's all relative!

    Happy times here.
Tank started eating again. Tonight he broke an almost 1 month long fast. I bought a 5oz piece of fresh salmon for him and he enjoyed every piece. I will sleep better tonight.

Re: Other pets (pics and discussions)

Just this Sat. Tank (Chelyrda serpentina - Common Snapping Turtle) took a trip to Des Moines to visit our good friends Mark and Rite. We also were making contact with one of the staff at the Science Center of Iowa. They are going to be hosting Tank and I for a presentation on Tank's life. Tank has never been on a car ride any longer then 15 minutes so this was going to be a test of his resolve.
The trip up was filled with a wandering 37 pound turtle that wished to be up front with me. I would have to keep him at bay with my arm as we sped down the road at 70 MPH. Tank just didn't understand why he couldn't be with me. The looks from the other drivers as this took place were classic. Tank performed perfectly the entire day. I put him in many different stressful situations and he stayed calm, cool and collected. Aside from him rolling his window down and trying to climb out of the vehicle as we drove down the street, all was good. Once at the Science Center Tank met many new people and worked great with everyone. Many children were there and got a hands-on experience they won't soon forget. Tank really is a people turtle. I think the Science Center was impressed and scheduled Tank to work on a Saturday in May of 2015. He will be there "World Turtle Day" presentation.
Tank has always impressed me but this weekend he showed me his ability to take on new situations without a change in his attitude.

    Priceless photos of Tank Steve.

Ashley those Nerodia are cute. I love the genus but have never kept them in captivity.
