Lu, there is nothing to forgive when the heart needs an outlet. And that's what we're here for. Some may agree; some may not. But regardless you'll be respected.

    Could you elaborate a bit?

This isn't an insult directed towards Lulu despite the way I'm going to phrase it, but couldn't just she "shut up for a minute"? Why should anybody else have to?

Just curious, but what do people even hope to achieve with that tradition?

I don't know Stefan... it's not a tradition I follow, but if someone asked me to please be quiet for a minute I would oblige out of respect for them. It's only a minute... and yes, I know the "it's only a minute" thing can be used to jump from here to there and on and on, but really, if a classmate asked you to please be quiet for a minute, for whatever reason, I have a feeling you would do so

Heheh, I still run around screaming "MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!"

    The respect goes to them!
I p***ed me off because people are to selfish to spare 1 sodding minite in their insignificant lifes to respect these people.

When I was working at preschool we had a woman who did not celebrate Halloween. Did this mean she asked us to not celebrate Halloween? No. The way she handled it was to ask for that day off and she just dealt with all of the decorations and preparations beforehand. Not that it matters, but she was from another country and I thought that she handled the whole thing very well. No one wants to make anyone else participate in something they don't believe in, but respect for each other could go a long way.

Stefan, there's nothing to elaborate. You don't like rituals. Whether it's one person [Lu] or a billion [the entire UK].

Bullshit, Stefan. You're just trying to stir up Lu or me or someone else.

And if that's the way you do truly believe, I don't want to address it as you're totally wrong in my opnion and I'm not about to get in that pissing match with you.

At 11am today I was driving.... I pulled over to the side of the road. Respect, and regret and a realization (again) that it was (and always will be) a cruel waste of young lives, whatever the race, creed or colour....... no one should be required to kill or to die for politics. It always makes me sad, every year.. I have lost friends and family to 'war games'. When will we learn?

To be honest, I would consider it highly disrespectful and I wouldn't be inclined to oblige.
