Probably just her breathing through her nostrils... But it is obnoxious. Think darth vader. (Maybe she is an evil half-cyborg? Hadn't considered that line of thinking...)

If I didn't know any better it sounds like a R.I. their breathing shouldn't sound like that. The only snake I ever had sound like that was very ill and need Baytril treatment to save her life.

Run the snake hard for a few minutes until it's respiration increases. If it begins to open it's mouth to breathe you got big trouble.

Seriously, "obnoxious" "darth Vader" sound when breathing... not good at all.

Well -- that was a joke. No Darth Vader. I did think RI at first too -- but It is so sporadic, no other symptoms showing. I don't know. Good idea, though. I'll take her out and give her a workout!

Didn't mean to drag this thread off topic... but here is a vid of her breathing. It did get worse when she was pushing hard, but this is after she had calmed down some (I have audio of when she was breathing harder). I can see now that she does slightly open her mouth upon exhale, and then breath in through her nose. (Needs to be turned up a bit to hear it, but it is clear.)

Sounds like a glottis click and a short whistle. Have you looked inside the mouth? Might check for an infection around the glottis that is not allowing it to seal properly.
With all that being said it may not be anything at all.
How's her eating, pooping, drinking and tongue flicking?

I've only had her for a week, so I'm not sure about all her habits etc, but her appetite is excellent, her tongue is good. Water is hard to tell... there was some poop but I didn't examine it close enough. I will pay more attention to the forthcoming batch, though.

Hey it kind of does sound like Darth Vader. I'm with Steve, it may be nothing but worth taking a look because it could be something. I would say if this has remained unchanged for months, mouth is pink and not pale/gray and sticky then its probably nothing.

Sorry... but I did pre-emptively apologize. That should count for something. The best way to change the subject, though, is to... change the subject!
