Re: Other pets (pics and discussions)

Saw a message on my answering machine, as if this day wasn't bad enough.

From the City Health Dept. The exception for Tank has been cancelled/put on hold as I am in violation of Iowa State code. I now need to apply for a "Educational Permit" through the State, for that I need to find an organization to sponsor Tank.
This day just keeps getting better and better.

No. I've made contact with a couple organizations that would be approved by the State.

Re: Other pets (pics and discussions)

Just a quick update to the Tank saga.

It appears the local DNR (Dept. of Natural Resources) person may have been wrong with his information. I contacted an official at the State office and was informed that with a valid Iowa fishing license I could keep 100lbs of live snapping turtles. I asked him if he knew of any State law that would be violated by keeping the turtle. He said that a valid fishing license was all I need as far as he knew.
I do have a valid license so I emailed the health dept. director this information along with a contact number of the State official I spoke to. That official said he would be more then happy to help me out.
Hopefully this latest bump in the road will be simply that, a bump.
I will probably have to keep the city supplied with a valid home owner's insurance statement and valid fishing license information but that is worth the trouble.
I'll keep you all informed as the drama plays out.
