Well yeah, in this case it's a mutation and it doesn't affect melanin. It affects yellow/red (orange). (Anerythristic) Takes it away from areas where it should be, leaving behind blue. I think that perhaps the blue is there even in normals, but it's at a deeper level and masked by pigments closer to the surface. Take those away, and it reveals the deeper, blue pigment cells.

So you agree, that OP's snakes are MORE blue?

Sure. I think that the blue in those is at a more superficial level in the skin, and therefore is apparent even in the black areas. (not so with mine) Also, that snake has less black area, making the overall effect even more dramatic. The blue on mine only shows in areas that would normally be orange or yellow.

Snap has more blue on her face when she's cooler, than when she's warmer. It's just something I've noticed.

She's a normal, but she's developing a very blue face.

Mine has a completely blue belly, starting at a light green at the chin and getting darker towards the tail... I'll have to see if it's different when he's hot...

Well, nobody can blame a snake (or person) for inheriting traits from their mother.

All the light colored facial areas and chin/throat would have been blue-green colored in "moms" younger days. Tends to fade when they get old.

Good. The ones I chose for holdbacks are doing the same thing. I tend to think that some or all could end up looking like this blue baby:

Not completely anery but not exactly normal. Who knows, they might just end up looking like their dad after they are a few years old. Blue anery. Time will tell.

Was Snaps mom also an ungrateful, selfish, pissy little brat? Because, if she was, I'd cut her a little slack with that attitude.

I literally ROTFLOL on that one. But yes, she is an ungrateful, selfish, pissy little brat. Just older and slower at her age. Love it or leave it. LoL.
