This is pretty risky with James around, but Garden orb spider Argiope aurantia

We have lots of different kinds of spiders here so I can make sure everyone's identification skills are sharp!

If it was in Europe I'd say Argiope bruennichi, but as it's in the US I guess you're right. I only do British and European spiders.

HA! I don't think so!

That just happened to be one of about 3 spiders that I am able to identify well enough to look up the Latin name.

I looked up the Latin name, and it says they're venomous!
