    Not snapping turtles. Other aquatic turtles do though. Like Painted and Sliders.

    I guess it's possible to some degree. Mikem is working with his Panzer(female, common snapper) and having some good luck. I do think Tank is a unique turtle. His attitude in the wild would probably mean a death sentence.
    I've been offered a few hatchlings over the last couple of years but have passed. Tank is all the turtle I need or want.
    At 18 lbs and still growing he's plenty.
    He's still a snapping turtle and shows it once in awhile. Throwing a piece of food into his enclosure triggers a strike as the food meets the water. When I put my had through the enclosure door I do so slower then normal. This way Tank can identify what I'm doing and override the instinct to strike. It works very well. I'm glad Tank is a thinking turtle.

    Snapper sure as hell doesn't doesn't seem too happy about it.

    Not likely, but then again, that's definitely not the worst thing that goes on that they don't know about.
