Re: Other pets (pics and discussions)

Lol...and thanks for all the advice you guys. I watched the Chihuahuas From Hell video of Cesar Millan's. I tried using his tactics with Presley...but it didn't work. I have made some progress with him...and I always keep him in his bed now when company comes over. I will see what happens after neutering...the thing about obedience classes is that I don't know how he would do with other dogs...he doesn't like them either. I really need a private trainer...but I can't afford it. If they had a class specifically for Chihuahuas, that would be good.

And if you have seen the Chihuahuas From Hell video...you will see that many of them are exactly like this. Watch it if you can...it's pretty hysterical.

Hah. The meekest dog I've ever encountered was a chihuahua.

I've been bitten by a couple of dogs, though. One border terrier and one miniature pinscher (it took a few minutes before I realized it must have bitten me).

Maybe getting him socialized with other dogs would help. Put up flyers in pet stores, malls, walmart etc, "Socialize my dog parties" Explain that he needs some doggy friends (and maybe some manners) get him a muzzle to make it safe for all parties involved.

Maybe talk to a shelter n see if they can help socialize him, like if any of their dogs there are really well behaved n good examples for him to learn from.

Getting him socialized will help his attitude. A lot.

I have to share with you my time with Tank last night.
I've learned many of Tank's tells which let me know how he's feeling and hopefully what he's thinking. Last night after he had dinner I noticed he was making small scratching motions with his front paws. This means he is tired and ready to get some sleep.
The next thing he will do is come partially out of his enclosure but not go to bed in his blanket. He did this 4 times. On the 5th time I lifted his blacket up and patted the area he sleeps in, encouraging his to get some sleep.
This time he cocked his head and looked down at the area I was patting and then the lifted blanket.
He then looked me in the eyes and backed into his water.
The punk knew what I wanted but refused to give in.
A few minutes later he couldn't take it anymore and came out to bed.
He reminds me of a little kid doing everything they can think of not to go to bed.
The more I work with Tank the more he impresses me with his intelligence and his docile behavior.
I feel fortunate to have this opportunity and enjoy every second I have with him.

We are adopting a 15ish yo Eastern Box turtle from my SIL. They've been trying to give Mildred to me for over a year! My son wants her and swears he'll take over her primary care. He's much more involved with Eli, so I hope this goes well. Gonna have to make a lid for her tub so the cat can't pester her. I'll post pics when she arrives...

Nice! I've really been thinking about an Eastern Boxie, maybe once we get moved into our own house and I can do up a nice outdoor enclosure ...

Yeah, I've been online looking for ideas. I've seen everything from from hinged lids that open (to protect the little buggers from predators) to whole back yards, divied up for each species!

The dogs think they own the back yard, the might have to start sharing!
