Question? Is it an automated responce. Once started must it run its course or can it be cancelled by the snake.
    Just wondering.

When I first watched the video I didn't realize what it was and I was like.."Now who would go and post a video clip of a snake dying on this forum?!?"...then I realized what I was watching....

Steve, I have a wild caught female who has been in captivity for almost five years now. She will start playing dead if I spend too much time in her enclosure, cleaning, moving things around, etc. Most of the time she stops after a few seconds... doesn't even make it all the way upside down like the snakes in those videos. From my personal experience with her, they can stop whenever they want.

I had a female too. Mine only ever played dead once but I've experienced others that do it more often. In my experience they generally keep it up until they believe that the threat has passed. And they stink when they empty their bowels at the same time. My hoggie generally just adopted a defensive posture, spreading a slight hood while making fake strikes and hissing a lot. We named her Frying Pan for that lol. A very unique and fun species to keep in my opinion.

Out of interest how do you go about bringing reptiles back from another country? Would be tempted to go to ham myself

    Re: Found on YouTube

Just to be clear...this is Hamburg, PA, in the U.S., not Germany. I realize that is still out of the country for you...but some people think it is Germany when I first say it. I thought the same when Mike first mentioned it. I don't know if you can bring reptiles overseas. I don't know how you would do that. I know you can't bring them on planes...and you couldn't ship them overnight overseas. The time required to ship them overseas would have to be dangerous for the snakes. Companies do it though...don't they?

Btw...if I had the money and there was an expo in Hamburg, Germany...I would be all over that!
