    hey
I got my first ever corn snake
the poor guy lost his family after 20 years
yup - he was acquired in '88
and for a snake that age he is really small, so we've named him Bonsai
    he's also got cataracts

he had some old shed on him, so Mikhaila was giving him the snake beauty parlour treatment

A genuine Miami phase corn? The coloration suggests it (although my knowledge of corn morphs is limited) and they're supposed to be significantly smaller than the normal one. But he still looks small.

He looks skinny, too. Old age or not enough food?

we were wondering how come he stayed so small

Does enclosure size influence animal size?

    not that I know, but I wonder now . . .
my thinking was more along the line that if they skimped on space, perhaps they skimped on food as well

    I find that more plausible.

If I'm right about the type of corn, it's not necessarily the only reason. A lack of exercise would leave the muscles underdeveloped as well.

I hadn't thought about the exercise part, but of course in a small tank like that . . .

anyway - he's found his retirement home

    and on another note:
after trying everything else with no luck, I broke down at last and got live minnows for my babies and all except for one ate - yippee
I'm not thrilled that their food of choice is something I have to go to the petshop for, but we'll change that in a couple of months when they've fattened up a bit
I hope that last one will come around soon

    Good news, then.

My parietalis on the other hand is off feed again. Has been for over a month, if you don't count the occasional pieces of salmon she's eaten during that time. Not that I'm worried, she's been fed heavily since she came out of brumation.
