That was great to watch! Thank you for posting that. Such big babies!

    Also, I loved the commentary:

On a bad note. I found 3 of these little scrubs dead this morning. No reason that I know of for it. Very strange. The others seem fine. Active and alert.
I will have to keep a very close eye on this group.

    Re: Spring 2011 Ranch Births

That is distressing Steve, but don't be discouraged, the others will likely be fine, those 3 probably weren't fully developed internally, even though they may have looked fine on the outside. I think that is part of the reason garters have relatively so many babies. As opposed to egglayers, were the eggs have the luxury of hatching at there own rate. I know many times when I have hatched turtle or snake eggs there would be sometimes 2-3 weeks inbetween the 1st hatch and last hatch in the clutch, whereas with garter snakes they all get pushed out at once, ready or not.

Darkgirl gave birth this morning. She bred to my T.radix Iowa albino male.
I've lost count but I think she's around 23 live born and 2 stillborn.
This babies are tiny compared to Onespot's babies.
    Photos and video to come.
After I install the new water heater.

    Re: Spring 2011 Ranch Births

I was happy to see Darkgirl having her babies.
Then I saw this baby. I couldn't be any more happy. I love a radix with a white dorsal. Black and white is so beautiful.
Actually I have 3 like this.
They might be Iowa albino hets but this is gorgeous(In my opinion)
