    re: Cameras and photography

I'll buy it over the internet, the prices in the stores are absolutely ludicrous.

    Thanks for the links.

Kit or body only? The kit comes with an 18-55 and the price difference is about 50€.

Nevermind, I went for the kit + a 60mm macro lens.

    Soon I'll be poor again.

I took 12 217 pictures with the one I have, are you sure you want me to post every picture I take with the new one?

It'll be a couple of weeks before I get the new camera. The store has to order the macro lens from the importer.

Yeah, still pretty sure about it!
Canons 60mm is a really, really sharp lens! You might need to get some bandaids

    re: Cameras and photography

I went to a couple of local stores just to compare prices today. One store wanted 200€ more for a Sony A300 Kit, than the store online store I'm using. They also wanted 100€ more for the A200 Kit. The other store was a bit more reasonable, their Canon 450D Kit only cost 50€ more than the one I ordered.

For 200€, the customer service better include a "happy ending".

I've avoided the more expensive store deliberately for years. Ever since I started to compare its prices to those that other stores have, I've been telling everybody I know that they should avoid that store. Their prices are completely insane (for example, they wanted twice as much for my current camera, than I actually paid) and they seem to live entirely off of loyal customers and people who don't want to use online stores.

Check here and see if the site you are using is listed.

Ratings and Reviews for Stores at ResellerRatings.com: Search: Showing All Stores

Be very cautious of "discount" online camera stores. There are a lot of horror stories from places that seem too good to be true.

It's not on that list, but I know my online store very well, I've used it at least 20 times without any problems in the last 10 years. Their prices may not be the lowest, but they come damn close. It has a very good reputation (here's a good opportunity for them to ruin it).

On friday they still hadn't gotten the lens from the importer, but according to the order status they have all the parts now and somebody just needs to pack and ship them. I don't want to get optimistic here, but with a little luck, they'll be on their way tomorrow.
