Wow, what a cool idea for a set up, Esther. And very cute froggies!!

My red bellied toad will only eat something moving, and it's hilarious to watch him because he'll creeeeeeeep up on a cricket walking by but if it stops for long enough, he just moves on.

I saw a White's at the petstore today when I was getting live pinkies. He was soooo cute!!! I'd never noticed them before, Rhea, but he kind of has my eye now...

Oh cool setup! I didn't know there was such a thing. What's the temp range like?

    That frog is adorable!!!

That heated propagation kit is really neat!!! I'm going to look around the garden centres when the spring stuff comes out and see if they carry them over here. I bet Toadie would like something like that, and obviously it would support live plant growth at the same time. Fabulous!!
BTW, the froggies are adorable, too!

    Nice frogs.

I also like the housing solution. I toyed with the idea a few times, but the ones I found, didn't seem secure enough for baby snakes.

Yeah, I was wondering if they'd work as vivs for snakes, but while the lid is fairly heavy and because of its shape not easy to lift from the inside, it's hard not to let anything escape when you open it as the whole lid lifts up. Even when I tilt it, I'm still always a bit weary of the frogs hopping out through the sides. It is incredibly cheap though! The whole propagator cost me just a little more than a large heatmat. To begin with the sides were totally steamed up but once I'd added extra ventilation holes the condensation cleared a fair bit.

Some of the ones I found had sides that you could open, but they all seemed pretty flimsy and there would have been quite a few things you would have had to seal.

To prevent escapes, before you open the lid, place the whole thing in a tall sided rubbermaid tub. Then if they get out, they're still within a container and easy to catch and return. I use that method when cleaning out my crickets' keeper.

It would have to be a pretty big tub! The propagator is 57x39x25 cm.
But I was thinking, that sitting it into the bath might be an idea. As long as I leave the plug hanging out. It does get fairly heavy though. I have pebbles, a large rock and water aswell as all the plants etc. in there.

The lid of this one, Stefan, is very strong plastic.
